While working on this piece, I strategically combined a shallow depth of field, icy textures, and an ethereal environment to gradually and meticulously reveal the logo. This approach was specifically chosen to evoke a sense of mystery and allure, encouraging viewers' curiosity and engagement. These visual elements collectively convey sophistication and subtlety, and position the client's production as luxurious and high-end.

For this project, a motif of asteroids was used to immerse viewers into the science-fiction genre found in the client's products. Through careful manipulation of scale and animation, the asteroids vividly illustrate the formation of a planet emerging from chaos – writhing, warping, and colliding to create a planet. The goal of the visual storytelling of this piuece is to underscore the client's focus on worldbuilding, and makes this concept a central priority, to ensure authenticity and alignment with the client's creative vision. The final piece debuted to an enthusiastic audience at a sold-out event at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Leveraging the client's existing stock of meticulously crafted ship models allowed for the creation of a bold, visually striking piece designed specifically to resonate with the player base of the client's video game. By utilizing vivid complimentary colors and a stream of sleek and surprising transitions, the piece was able to deepen the sense of worldbuilding created by the game, while looking visually distinct from it. Ultimately the piece aimed to energize and inspire the community and motivate their participation in the game.

Designing Deception

Designing Deception is a public awareness campaign, dedicated to teaching people basic skills to identify hyperreal media. It teaches people naked-eye tests to detect things like AI images, deepfakes, and CGI. It also teaches people how to react when they encounter disinformation. There are two primary touch points; a website, and a social media campaign. The website has a simple architecture; a gallery of works, an archive of articles, and a series of video essays. It’s an interactive website that feels like a video game, users travel through the space and interact with content at their own pace. The social media campaign allows me to weave techniques to detect hyperreal media into the very place where it is found.
